CONGRATS, 2012 Roaster of the Year, Portland Roasting!

November 3rd, 2011 by Anna Gutierrez

Gourmet Source would like to congratulate one of our amazing customers in being awarded Roast Magazine’s highly coveted “2012 Macro Roaster of the Year” award!

This is no easy feat and Portland Roasting has definitely waited their fair amount of time in receiving this award. After being one of the top three roasters in the United States multiple times, 2012 has finally become their year to shine!

The selection process started with roasters submitting a written application for why they feel they deserve this title including their commitment to sustainability, focus on creating a magnetic company culture, their desire to growing the coffee community in their own back yards as well as across the world, innovations in roasting and cutting-edge marketing and business practices.

Once a roaster has made it into the top three for their roasters’ size category, they then submit coffees to be cupped in a blind tasting. After this tasting, the winner is awarded.

This great accomplishment comes along at the same time as Portland Roasting has opened their first retail establishments at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, OR.

Portland Roasting has a lot to celebrate this year and we are very proud of their accomplishment!

Hey Pumpkin! Welcome back!

Fall is falling and its pumpkin time of year again. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin scones, pumpkin soup, pumpkin ales, and of course Pumpkin Lattes!

This year why don’t you add some excitement to that old Pumpkin latte by trying it as a Pumpkin Pie Latte…shall we say…. A la Mode….?! (Say it with me now in your sexiest low French accent “ahhh lahhh mooooode” Oh yeah, now that’s smooth).

How would you feel if I also told you that you can pass on those premade pumpkin spice syrups and generic flavorings, easily replacing them with something more artisan and unique; something more authentic and real? Don’t we all crave more authenticity sometimes? What if I said you can use actual pumpkin puree in your new latte recipe?!

Now that I’ve got your attention, here is a recipe for an outrageously creamy and smooth Pumpkin Pie Latte a la Mode Made with Ghirardelli white chocolate. It is a sure way to ease yourself into the mood for fall’s golden sunlight, changing leaves, shortening days, and that old familiar crispness that hangs in the air.

Pumpkin Pie A La Mode Latte Made with Ghirardelli
12oz hot drink:
6 oz milk
2 Tblsp Ghirardelli white powder or 2 pumps Ghirardelli white chocolate sauce
2 Tblsp Pumpkin Puree, spiced
2 shots espresso

Instructions:
Put milk, Ghirardelli white chocolate, and pumpkin puree in carafe and steam together.
Add shots to cup
Add mixture to cup

Drink, snuggle up, and Mmmmmm…. Fall into fall!

*Substitute milk for Pacific Natural Foods Soy Blenders or Original Almond milk
** Substitute Espresso Shots for 2oz. of Pacific Natural Foods Original or Spicy Chai
