Coffee and Chemistry?

How many of us use chemistry on a daily basis? Now, how do you think you could incorporate chemistry into what we do each day in the coffee industry? To be honest, chemistry is all around us from how coffee and cacao beans are roasted, how our syrups are manufactured, the extraction of flavors from espresso and every other alternative brew method as well as how our espresso machines work. If we take the time to really understand it, how much better do you think we would be at our jobs and how we relay that information and train others in our industry?
The SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America www.scaa.org) is proud to announce that they have a new Coffee Science Manager, Emma Bladyka, and she wants to challenge YOU with this quiz on coffee chemistry and also ask you a few questions about how this subject may apply to your work.
